FAQs Cardiff
What areas do you work in?
A
We work primarily in and around the Cardiff area including Caerphilly, Barry, etc.
We do also take on some projects in Newport or Swansea, however, due to the distances involved with these, we only do relatively large projects in these areas.
Are there any costs involved in getting a quotation?
A No, all our quotes are completely free of charge.
How does the quoting process work?
A
To arrange a visit to provide an estimate please call the office, 02920 850550, or fill in the Request a Call Back form’. We will then arrange a time for Paul to come and visit.
Paul will discuss with you what works you would like and can help to give you ideas as well. After your visit he will price up an estimate which will be sent to you via email as soon as possible, this usually takes up to a week.
We are more than happy to return to discuss different options or cost-saving ideas after the initial quote has been completed. We will work with you until you are satisfied with the estimate and then if you would like to go ahead, we will place you on our works schedule.
How do I choose my paving/decking/artificial turf? Do you bring samples?
A
Paul does bring a limited amount of samples with him during visits. If you would like samples of anything specific, please request this when booking the visit and we will try to make sure that we provide these for you.
We have some trusted suppliers for all our paving/decking/artificial turf and would recommend, where possible to either visit them in person to select your products or at least to go to their website. We will provide you with their details during the estimating phase.
If possible, we avoid starting works on a new project until all products are chosen in order to reduce any delays in receiving products from our suppliers.
How long will your project take?
A
As we work on projects of varying degrees of complexity there is no general rule as to how long your project will take.
We aim to complete your project as quickly as we can whilst ensuring that all works are completed to the highest standard. Our policy is always to spend the extra time to make sure everything is perfect rather than rush through and make mistakes.
When can you carry out the works?
A
Once the project has been agreed you will go straight into our schedule. We allocate each project to one of our teams depending on the skills required.
We aim to get to you as soon as possible however at different times of the year our waiting list increases or decreases. From March time we get really busy and our waiting list starts to increase with waiting times going from a few weeks to up to 3 or 4 months.
For smaller projects that only take a couple of days, we will try to fit you into our schedule much sooner than this though and the team that will be allocated to these types of works has a much shorter lead time.
Do we need access to your house?
A
We will always access back gardens via side/back entrances where possible. If there is no other access then we will, of course, have to go through via the house. If this is the case then we ensure that all surfaces of the house are fully protected from any mud/dirt arising from the works.
We may need to access an electrical outlet for some of our machinery etc. Hopefully, this can be done via an outside socket but if not we would need some form of access to this.
Any access issues will be discussed with you prior to works commencing although we are happy to discuss them during initial consultations. We do not need to access your house for anything else. We bring our own toilet with us and have our own tea-making facilities.
What hours do you work?
A
We will be working between 08:00 and 16:30, Monday to Friday. During this time there may be deliveries to the site and loud tools being used. We will, however, be as considerate as possible to both yourself and your neighbours.
We sometimes work on weekends but will discuss this with you prior to working these days to confirm that this is acceptable.
Our office is open on Monday from 09:00 to 17:00 and Tuesday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00.
Can we work all year round?
A
We work all year round with only a one to two-week break around the Christmas/New Year holiday.
When the weather is particularly bad there may be some delays to works. However, it is rare that these delays are more than a day or two. There are always different parts of the projects that can be completed even in adverse weather conditions.
What are the payment terms?
A
We request a deposit on the first day of work. The deposit will be for approx. 30% of the quoted value.
We will then request a 30 % stage payment at around the halfway mark of the works, then a further 30 % stage payment as we get to the latter stages of the works and then a final 10% payment upon completion.
Any additional works carried out that aren’t on the initial quote will be added on to the stage payment requests once priced up and confirmed.
We prefer our payments to be received by BACS where possible. Alternative payment options can be discussed if needed. Please note we do not accept credit/debit card payments.
Can I see some of your previous work?
A
If you would like to visit any of our previous clients we are more than happy to arrange this.
We can arrange for you to visit projects similar to what you would be looking to get done so that you can better visualise your own project and see the quality of our work.
